My father insisted upon his only son following in his footsteps. As a young boy, I thought knighthood would be nothing but honor and glory following victorious returns from battle, but I was quickly proven wrong. There is no glory to be found in telling a woman her husband lies dead many leagues away.

[ No honor to be found in looking into the eyes of a child and solemnly saying her mother won't ever be back for dinner. ]

There is always fear, but moreso than fear for your own life it becomes fear that you will not be able to protect those that you call comrades and friends despite your best efforts.

Why so curious? Do you also wish to become a knight?

you have to be willing to sacrifice your life for others
